Photo Lighting

If you have a digital slr and photo editing software, do you still need to buy lighting equipment?
What is the software that america next top model photographers use to digitally enhance their photos?
That's right, if you have Photoshop you can turn any picture into pure gold. Boring subjects, poor composition, crappy lighting and all. Most pros sold their studio lighting and bought a few cases of beer with the cash.
Oh wait...
Professional photographers do whatever it takes to get the shot right in the camera. In light (ha ha) of this, proper lighting is still as important as it ever was. Pros use Photoshop to tweak images - not to salvage them. For extensive retouching they might even let a graphic artist do the work. Depending on what you want to do, the job can take quite some skill and time (skill that the photographer doesn't necessarily want to develop, and time that he'd rather use to take more pictures).
The current version is Photoshop CS4. It costs $700 and you can easily spend that much again on plug-ins. For just $100, however, you can buy Photoshop Elements. Same company. This covers 90% of what you'd use for the purposes of photo editing.
