What is better; HD, Mini DV, or flash memory camcorders?
I want a good quality camcorder but I can't decide!
Hard Drive camcorders
Pros - You shoot video, store them, and upload them to the computer when your done. It's your choice to either erase them off your hard drive or keep it on there.
Cons - Hard Drive camcorders are still new in the market. If your camera happens to malfunction to the point where it gives up on you, all your video on that hard drive can't be recovered. Again, it's a Hard Drive, so you have to be sure you don't tamper to hard with your camera or you might end up crapping your hard drive and not retreiving your videos.
Mini DV camcorders
Pros - Better qaulity when uploading from the camera's firewire connection. Able to upload videos onto your computer and still keep the originial footage on tape in case you need to referance back to your footage.
Cons - More and More camcorders are going digital as far as hard drives, flash memory, and so forth. Mini DV tapes, in the future, maybe discontinued. The constant rewinding and backing up in the tape to capture footage might be a little tideous.
Flash Memory camcorders
Pros - Easy Drag and Drop from the camera. Just like taking pictures from a digital camera. No tapes, no hard drive.
Cons - High Definition footage takes up a lot of space and you may need to upgrade to a higher storage flash memory stick. Even though it may have drag and drop features, you may still have loss in qaulity.
