how would you set up a triple bass drum kit?
This is just purely curiosity. What if you had the following in a drum kit:
3 bass drums
6 mounted toms
3 floor toms
2 snares
Where would you put the third bass drum? Any thoughtful suggestions would be appreciated.
You would need a big drum rack, designed to fit 3 bass drums.
The toms would be mounted as normal, but they may need to be stacked on top of each other considering the amount of toms (2 rows of toms, 3 toms per row).
The floor toms would be put on the right of you. It is a good idea to put some floor toms on the rack as it sounds better.
One snare would be right infront of you while the other snare would be towards the south west of the HI hat.
As for the bass drums, one would be in the default area, between floor tom and snare. The second on will be between the hi hat pedal and the snare.
The THIRD bass drum would probably be on the right of you first bass drum. Do access it, you will need a double kick pedal (even tho u are only using it for 1 pedal).Attach the double pedals to the drum, then place the left pedal beside the pedal on your default bass drum so that you can acess it with your right leg (you would be kicking the left pedal of the double bass pedal).
There is no reason why you would have the third bass drum to be the same size as your other two bass drums though, unless you want it there just for show. Some people have a third bass drum that is a completely different size to the other two, for accenting. It sounds erally good
