4 Questions about Les Miserables?

Besides The Lion King and Wicked I have started to get an interest in Les Miserables. Can someone help me answer my questions:

1. Who is the girl on the poster of Les Miserables?

2. What does "Les Miserables" mean? Is it French?

3. The story line doesnt sound as interesting as other Musicals. What is your opinion? What is it exactly about?

4. Is there any spectacular effects with lighting and etc. like Wicked or is it just a boring backdrop? Because it doesnt sound as "magical" as other Musicals.

Please help me because I'm very curious!

1. The girl on the poster is Cossette, she is the main character.
2. Les Miserables is French, it means the miserables... it has that title because the story i set during a war, and the group of people in France who are telling the story are miserable.
3. I found it astonishing, I simply loved it. I saw it in London with Kerry Ellis, who was amazing... The entire show was breath taking. It has a great moral.
4. It doesn't have the greatest backdrop, but it doesn't really need it. The acting is so strong, and the songs give such a great message, I loved it. I really recommend it! You should see it in NYC or London... wherever's closest...
